Project Orion
The future has already read you.
Synopsis
The story
A national examination fails at precisely 8:17—and reveals a hidden intelligence that does not merely predict human choices. It manufactures them.
As academics, spies and governments converge on Project Orion, Professor Kofi and his allies enter a war fought through symposia, surveillance, money, seduction and erased identities. Chinese operators tighten their control while Russian, Israeli, American, Canadian, Indian, French and German interests pursue their own designs.
To preserve human freedom, the witnesses must confront a system that knows every likely decision—and choose what no model can own.
